PGL Beyond’s Head of Impact and Breakthrough Learning has been announced as a judge on the panel of the Children & Young People (CYP) Now Awards 2025.
The judging will take place in July, with the winners being announced in November at a ceremony to be attended by decision-makers such as the Children’s Minister, Janet Darby, and hundreds of educators and organisations providing vital support for our young people.
“The Children & Young People Now Awards are the gold-standard across this richly diverse children’s services sector,” said Derren Hayes, Editor of CYP Now. “From local play schemes to national safeguarding programmes, these awards showcase the very best initiatives and services working with disadvantaged children, young people and families from across the UK.”
The awards, which feature categories such as The Leaving Care Award and The Mental Health and Wellbeing Award, recognise youth organisations, charities and individual practitioners, as well as The Children’s Achievement Award, which recognises exceptional young individuals.
For Derren Hayes, Dr John Allan’s invitation to the panel was a clear choice given his breadth of experience and knowledge in the field. “Our panel of expert judges reflects the broad nature of the children’s services sector, with each judge bringing deep knowledge and expertise of their respective field,” Darren said. “Dr John Allan has substantial experience of outdoor education and adventure play, and I am delighted he is joining the CYP Now Awards judging panel for a second year.”
“I feel a deep sense of pride at being asked again to join an expert panel of judges for these prestigious awards,” said Dr John Allan, Head of Impact & Breakthrough Learning at PGL Beyond, “Selecting the CYP Now award winners across the UK’s children’s services sector is the culmination of a rigorous procedure which is reflective of the importance placed upon these awards and the esteem in which they are widely held. The broad range of initiatives and services nominated and celebrated within this framework are truly inspirational and impactful. I look forward to contributing to this highly enjoyable process.”
About the Children & Young People Now Awards
The prestigious CYP Now Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the innovative and inspiring initiatives taking place all over the UK by professionals who work day-in, day-out, to improve the life chances of children, young people and their families. The awards are organised into categories that reflect the breadth and diversity of the sector.
The awards are a way to communicate some of the learning and best practice from projects at the forefront of delivering services for children and young people. They also provide an opportunity to raise the profile of the sector to government, political and funding supporters, and the general public.
