Whilst PGL’s Bawdsey Manor welcomes thousands of young people for residential trips each year, this month we also welcomed some special visitors, for a slightly less adrenaline filled event.

Bawdsey Manor played a significant role in both World War I and II, then known as RAF Bawdsey, and opens its doors each year so former colleagues can reunite, as well as meet with current Air Cadets and Volunteers.

“RAF Bawdsey is an integral part of our lives and for many of us, returning to the Manor, feels like coming back to a second home,” said Doreen Calver, Secretary and Treasurer for RAF Bawdsey Reunion Association. “We are so grateful to the team at PGL for welcoming us with open arms and making the event possible.”

The RAF Bawdsey Reunion Association were also joined to commemorate the occasion with personnel from the 432nd Woodbridge Air Cadets who helped with the smooth running of the occasion but were also able to listen and discuss with the former servicemen and women from RAF Bawdsey which finally closed its doors to service support in 1991.

Evangeline Wells, General Manager of PGL Bawdsey Manor commented: “At Bawdsey Manor we understand how rich the history of our centre is and we are always delighted to open our doors to the reunion association as we know how much it means to them. With this year coinciding with the anniversary of the D Day landings we know it would have meant a lot to those who could attend and mean something special to our colleagues too.”

We are delighted to continue to support the RAF Bawdsey Reunion Association and help maintain such important links to our past.
