PGL Travel has announced that all its UK activity centres are now Gluten Free Accredited by Coeliac UK, and its menus will carry the charity’s trusted GFA symbol.
Coeliac disease differs from a food allergy in that it is an autoimmune condition triggered by eating gluten. For people with coeliac disease, the consumption of gluten damages the lining of the gut, which can lead to serious health problems. According to Coeliac UK, the disease affects 1 in 100 people in the UK. With new cases on the rise, it was important to PGL to provide clarity to centre guests.
Tracey McCormick, Head of Catering at PGL, said: “Food safety and allergen management is our highest priority at PGL, and all UK centres have stringent procedures in place to ensure we provide a broad menu to meet the needs of a range of dietary requirements.
“We are delighted that the Gluten Free Accreditation from Coeliac UK means we can give our guests with the condition a recognisable and reassuring GFA symbol in their menu choices, allowing them, and their parents, absolute peace of mind.”
Christopher Kidd, Director of Commercial Services at Coeliac UK, shared: “We’re really pleased that PGL is now Gluten Free Accredited. Ensuring the children that need them have safe gluten free options when away from home is so important and means they’re able to enjoy food without worry. Thank you to PGL for working with us and being so committed to providing safe gluten free food.”
Coeliac UK’s Gluten Free Accreditation symbol will be prominently shown at the entrance to dining rooms, as well as on printed and digital menu boards.
In addition to Coeliac UK’s Gluten Free Accreditation and the highest level of food hygiene rating, guests can be reassured ahead of their visit by accessing detailed menu information on the PGL website, and pre-travel dietary requirement forms are requested as standard from all guests.
This measure allows guests, parents or guardians to convey dietary needs in relation to the 14 legally recognised allergens, as well as advising on any other requirements, such as lesser-known intolerances or religious dietary laws.

About Gluten Free Accreditation
Coeliac UK’s Gluten Free Accreditation scheme has been supporting those who need to live gluten free to safely dine out since 2012. When you see the GFA symbol, you know a venue is committed to gluten free food safety. Being part of the scheme and using the symbol means the venue and its staff have been through strict audits and extensive training to make sure they meet our standards for gluten free safety.
