PGL Beyond’s Talent Acquisition team has secured a new partnership with The Prince’s Trust as it seeks to provide more employment opportunities for young people.

Over the last twelve months the team has been working with a number of social impact charities, providing opportunities for a wide range of potential colleagues who may have had to overcome barriers to finding a job through the help of these charities.

“We attend job fairs, shows and open days and talk with students and jobseekers about potential careers with PGL Beyond, but we have a captive audience with these specific events,” says Chris Whitehead, Talent Acquisition Lead.

“There are plenty of people out there who may not have heard of PGL, or thought it was an option for them due to their background or circumstances. By working with social impact charities and organisations, we can show them that PGL Beyond can kickstart their careers and offer so many options for personal and professional development.”

One such organisation that the team have partnered with is The Prince’s Trust, a UK-based charity focused on helping young people get their lives on track by building confidence, launching a business, or getting a job.

The PGL Beyond Talent Acquisition team have worked on two of The Prince’s Trust programmes so far.

The first programme is their World of Work programme, designed to get people ready for employment through developing their interview skills and visiting different places of work.

“Over 30 participants and The Prince’s Trust employees headed to Newby Wiske Hall to visit the centre and learn about potential careers at PGL. The day received fantastic feedback,” says Chris.

The Get Hired programme, the second that the team worked on, helps people who are ready for work but are struggling to find opportunities. Chris headed to their HQ in Birmingham and gave a presentation on PGL and potential career paths to three participants, along with Q&A sessions.

“This particular programme resulted in three individuals interviewing with PGL and all three of them have joined our business, which is fantastic to see. Had we not joined forces these young people just wouldn’t have had the opportunity to work with us. This is just the beginning of the partnership, and I’m excited to see how we can expand to other areas of the UK,” says Chris.

“Our purpose of enriching young people’s lives is not just crucial for our guests; it resonates for the young colleagues coming to work at our centres. By working with these charities, we can make a real difference to their lives, as well as improving our diversity so guests with similar backgrounds and experiences can see representation when they stay with us and therefore feel like they belong.”
